Privacy And The Internet

I’m sure most people can say that the internet has made our lives a whole lot easier. I can’t say that most people think of internet as a private place. There are so many viruses and hackers,  and the internet is pretty much a place where you actually have no privacy. Hackers somehow figure out how to get your information, even though it might seem impossible to figure out how to do so. These hackers think they’re so smart for figuring this out, so they think are smart enough to not get caught. The truth is that there is a way for them to actually get caught for their illegal activity, and hopefully get arrested. Unfortunately the process is not that simple, and definitely not that quick.

Every time you use a computer to search the internet, you are given an IP address. Once again because you have minimal privacy, that address can actually be tracked down. Even though this is true, the hacker’s address won’t always be tracked down. Therefor they won’t always get into the trouble that they should get into. It really is a shame that people like that don’t always get what they deserve. I really hope there comes a time in the future when they always get caught.

A New Era

When my small firm was acquired late last year by a much larger Equity Group, discussions about relocating our office to their corporate headquarters in South Carolina began. With my wife’s job here, I knew there was no way I would be able to make the move. Despite my disappointment in the transition, I worked hard to help the new owners become acclimated and understand our business model. I felt certain I would be able to find another job with my contacts but knew a good reference from these guys would be helpful. About a week before the relocation offers were to be made I had a brilliant idea; since my job was not client facing but more of a support role, why couldn’t I continue to manage my responsibilities from home? Many people I know have a Brooklyn T1 line and work for companies all over the world. I spent the next week putting together a presentation for the new owners and feel good about the idea. Tomorrow I will present it and hopefully be able to begin a new era in our firm where we are able to work from all over the country!

Address Plaques

Making a change to your house is always fun to do. I’ve been living in the same house for over twenty years, and I figured it’s time for a change. I decided to make a drastic change, by painting the house a whole different color. Now that my house had a whole different look, I now had to get a new address plaque that would match the house. Unlike hiding your identity when using a proxy, I want people to be able to know that my house is indeed mine.    This is why I was interested in personalized address plaques, which  would actually be able to show my address as well as my last name. I really think that it gives the house a welcoming look, which is what I was aiming for.

Over the weekend, I went with my boyfriend to watch a basketball with a few of his friends. Now I don’t exactly dislike basketball, but I’m not going to say I’m a big fan.
